150th cultural visit to Gallery David d’Angers
14 members were present last Tuesday Feb 6, 2024, to have a tour of Gallery David d’Angers in the former 11th c abbey Toussaint.
Chantal, our M’A museum guide explained the history of the building reopened and renovated in 1984 by President Mitterrand.
A large part of the sculptures and medallions of famous French and international scholars (Goethe, George Washington, Lord Byron) were originally housed in the neighboring museum of Fine Arts. Either donated by the sculptor himself or acquired by the city since David was born in Angers in 1788.
